Collection consists of letters by Reinagle, including: 1828 May 8, to Robert Balman, Strand - describing an upcoming lecture on a recently found painting of Cleopatra in Florence; 1833 Dec. 17, Fitzroy Square, to John Alliston Lent - expressing lack of patronage; and 1840 Dec. 7, Newcastle-on-Tyne, to "Sir" - in response to a request for his autograph, Reinagle provides a capsule autobiography, giving an account of his invention of the flat brush, his attempts at diorama, his studies as an artist in Europe, his travels and career.
